Subject: Librarians Split on Sharing Info
Overall, terrorists are not known to be a bookish lot (Librarians Split on Sharing Info, Jan. 17, 2003). Rather than researching the mechanics of bomb-building or the complexities of chemical compounds, most people bent on bringing terror are quite content to shoot, poison or maim in a highly public place.
The erosion of civil liberties and the mockery of our Constitution -- as evidenced by the invasion of libraries by law enforcement -- is both a painful reminder of how corrosive fear can be and a sad reflection on how ill-conceived the Patriot Act remains.
