Subject: ISPs: Ruling Bad for Subscribers
If a police officer cannot search your car without due cause and possibly a search warrant, I just don't understand how an ISP can be compelled to turn over information without a valid warrant (ISPs: Ruling Bad for Subscribers, Jan. 24, 2003). Does this mean that an officer can now ask that I eject any CDs or tapes playing in my car to confirm they're not pirated? How can he know my home burned copy isn't legal?
