Maybe it's ironic that an airline that once required its flight attendants to wear hot pants would now fire two pilots for showing too much skin. But two Southwest Airlines pilots crossed the line when they opted to remove their uniforms in the cockpit and fly a plane virtually naked. "We did conduct a thorough investigation and terminated the two pilots for inappropriate conduct," said a Southwest spokeswoman. According to company sources, a flight attendant discovered the pilots in their undressed state when summoned into the cockpit several months ago. The pilots, fired earlier this month, have appealed, contending they had spilled coffee on their uniforms. The airline isn't buying their excuse, and the termination stands.
