Watch out poachers. People who pluck sea-turtle eggs off Florida beaches at night and sell them on the black market are gonna get in trouble if Sen. Steven Geller (D-Hallendale Beach) has anything to say about it. He has sponsored a bill to create tougher penalties for poachers. See, Latin and Caribbean cultures see those babies as aphrodisiacs and delicacies. The eggs are served at restaurants and bars, but are not on the menu. One federal investigator said you can't just walk in and ask for an egg. "If they don't know you -- uh-uh -- you're not getting any eggs. You have to know the right person...." The proposed bill would make it a felony to possess 12 or more eggs.
