I've decided to boycott the record industry ("RIAA Sues College File Traders," April 3, 2003). I've grown tired of the copyright and patent debate, and how vendors want so much control over content, whether it be music, movies, computer software or whatever.
It's clear that public laws no longer protect the user and I place my vote as NO to the purchase of CDs. I am not boycotting other industries yet, as they have not resorted to the same level of control as the music industry. But I will if they do.
The music industry has forgotten that it is the people that make them wealthy. Not the artists. Not the marketers. To declare war on your own people, well, that's crazy. Hmmm. Come to think of it, that sounds familiar. Oh yeah, the drug war. But that's another issue....
