I would rather see the administration pursue the RIAA over Taft-Hartley anti-trust actions ("U.S. Backs RIAA in ISP Fight," April 20, 2003). The first amendment should cover an artist's right to get works published, not a publisher's drive to protect profits and prevent competing distributions.... Grr.

Subject: Docs Wrangle Over SARS Death Rate
It is very comforting to know that the world is working together to solve our SARS crisis ("Docs Wrangle Over SARS Death Rate," April 21, 2003). But I would rather hear about researchers spending their time, energy and money finding the source and the cure of SARS instead of arguing how to calculate its mortality rate.

If this comes to fruition, I will bet a million that some hacker will create WWIII ("Planning for the Next Cyberwar," April 18, 2003).

I think no matter how right RIAA may be about its assertion, the procedure is very wrong and if not unconstitutional, it should be ("U.S. Backs RIAA in ISP Fight," April 20, 2003).
RIAA and the big music firms are living in the last decade and should give it up. Their greed is amazing as shown by their actions. Why not use the technology instead of fighting it?

Subject: Gadget-Heavy Audi Geeks It Up
I thought your article was misguided ("Gadget-Heavy Audi Geeks It Up," April 22, 2003). Audi is doing nothing new that hasn't been a standard item in Mercedes, BMW, Infinity or Lexus in the past as standard equipment. What they are offering in the A8 isn't revolutionary.
Solar-panel sunroofs are an option on the new E class sedan, which also uses the engine heats to warm up the car while you are away to save energy. The twin LCD panels have also been a Mercedes and BMW staple for many years. My 99 E class and 2000 3 series has it (they call it a multifunction display). The tilting steering wheel and sliding-back seat that allow easy entry and exit has been standard on my 1993 Infinity Q45.
My point is that while it's great to toot Audi's horn about all the new gadgets in their new A8, it's also fair to your readers that you reference what other makers have been offering to give a balanced perspective.
