Frisky Ferret Rides Rails

Most people who take public transit become used to the occasionally bizarre behavior exhibited by their fellow travelers. But unsuspecting riders on an English train got a straight shot of furry frenzy Sunday when a hungry ferret boarded the Midland Mainline and proceeded to leap from passenger to passenger, looking for food. "It ran up and down the train causing more than a little consternation -- although it is hard to say if the ferret or the passengers were more frightened," a company spokeswoman said. The chaos came to an end after the edgy animal ducked into the cab and devoured the driver's lunch (a cheese sandwich, according to one account). Animal-control experts later removed the ferret.
