When the Minnesota Vikings suspended offensive lineman Bob Sapp three years ago for using steroids, he became so depressed he draped black sheets over his windows. But then a karate master invited him to become a prizefighter in Japan. Today, the NFL castoff is "The Beast," one of the best-known Americans in Japan for his matches in the popular, brutal sport K-1, which combines karate, tae kwon do and kickboxing. Sapp signed on as the ambassador for Northwest Airlines and the NFL's Japan office, he's a regular feature on Japanese TV, and he's sold 100,000 copies of his debut CD. When asked about reports he'll make $3 million this year, he replied: "That's the worst-case scenario."
