Slideshow: The Robot Won't Bite You, Dear

Not all robots look and act like the Terminator. The idea behind billed as a robot talent show, is to show kids of all ages the softer side of bots. Michelle Delio reports from New York.

ShivaBot, by Kyle Lapidus, Jonathan Huggins and Clay Lacefield, plays electronic drums, bells, chimes and cymbals. ShivaBot is part of LEMUR, short for League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots, a band of robotic instruments that won the ArtBots' People's Choice award.

Drawing Machine, by Fernando Orellana, listens to its environment using a series of microphones installed around the gallery. What it hears is interpreted by the machine's software and used as the primary driver, or inspiration, to make complex, non-representational drawings.
