John Ritter, best known as the bumbling but lovable Jack Tripper on the 1970s sitcom Three's Company, died unexpectedly Thursday after collapsing on the set of his new comedy series, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter. Doctors said that Ritter, 54, was killed by a "dissection of the aorta," an undetected flaw in the main artery leading from the heart.
