Great. Now I gotta withdraw all of my funds and shove it under a mattress ("Windows to Power ATMs in 2005," Sept. 19, 2003).

There is no way that I'm trusting my finances to the biggest programming travesty of all time.

Help me Obi-Linus Torvalds -- you're my only hope.

Any chance that Windows-based ATMs could be labeled, so I know what to avoid?

This is the best news about Windows that I have heard lately ("Windows to Power ATMs in 2005," Sept. 19, 2003).

Now we can stand by the ATMs and wait for a hacker to attack and make it spew money.

The article was good but Bruce is off base by implying that, "don't worry, the ATMs are not online." ("Windows to Power ATMs in 2005," Sept. 19, 2003)

As someone who worked in banking for a period of time, I can say that some ATMs are now online, and if not, they certainly will soon be connected for the cost cutting of remote management and upgrades. I personally know of a company with over 1,000 cash registers, which runs on Windows and will be connected to the headquarters by broadband for high-speed verification and ordering enhancements.
