Some people hate Wal-Mart because the mammoth chain is known for taking a bite out of its competition. Now there's another reason to fear the world's No. 1 retailer: rattlesnakes. Douglas Hatchett, 31, got quite a surprise as he shopped for shoes Monday in the Wal-Mart store in Brownwood, Texas -- and it wasn't because of a shocking price rollback. A snake hidden behind a shoebox bit Hatchett, police said. Then the rattler fell to the floor, where Hatchett promptly stomped it to death. Both the shopper and the lifeless snake were taken to a hospital, where Hatchett was treated and released. The rattlesnake remains dead.
