The soldier is real, the wound is not. The soldier's partially amputated leg was created by Image Perspectives. Emergency medical workers in disaster drills will apply medicines and bandages to this type of wound, and tape an intravenous tube to the soldier, as part of their training.

A blast or contact with a chemical weapon may have caused the burns on this soldier's back. The burns and blisters were made with a combination of materials, including moulage makeup and latex rubber.
