Fears -- real, imagined or contrived -- have the Department of Homeland Security considering a plan to postpone the presidential election in the event of a terrorist attack on the United States on or near Nov. 2. A letter from DeForest Soaries Jr. of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission suggested the possibility of postponing the election to forestall a possible attack. Soaries is a former New Jersey secretary of state and senior pastor of the 7,000-member First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset -- and a Bush appointee. Maybe they could just crown him George I and forget the whole thing.
