IMix: More Users, New Features

Apple has added some new features to iMix, reports the Denver Post, including staff picks and a running counter of the total iMixes:

"IMix makes the (mix tapes) instant, commercial and very, very Apple. Marketing experts like (Sterling Communications' Paul Forecki) call it 'viral' marketing, where the enthusiastic users are the ones who sell it to other users, not the mother company.

'We're building a music community now,' said Alex Luke, director of programming and label relations for iTunes. 'There's always been a subculture of trading tapes. Playing the deejay is powerful. Some of these mixes clearly took people hours to put together.'"
