If you wait until February or March to register, you may not be able to find a room that is within easy walking distance of the Austin Convention Center and all the fun in the downtown / 6th Street / 4th Street area. Remember, you must register for SXSW to book a hotel room through the SXSW Housing Desk – and the SXSW Housing Desk has the best selection of downtown rooms to serve all your lodging needs.

Malcolm Gladwell, who serves as the Sunday, March 13 keynote speaker for SXSW Interactive, was profiled on the cover of the January 2005 edition of Fast Company. According to the magazine, "No one in recent memory has slipped into the role of business thought leader as gracefully or influentially as Gladwell . . . The mere mention of his name to creative directors or product developers results in nouns not typically associated with business thinkers: He's a rock star, a spiritual leader, a stud." Author of the new book "Blink: Thin-Slicing, Snap Judgments, and the Power of Thinking Without Thinking," Gladwell was also featured in the January 10 issue of Time.
