The Asbestos-Soaked Ashcan of History
Man, this is some kind of melancholy military tale here.
You know that scene in the film "Patton" where
American artillery is tearing into the Nazi
troops and George C. Scott growls, as
he stares at the carnage with his binoculars,
"A hell of a waste of fine infantry"? This is
just like that.
It's also remarkably like some of the particularly
twisted bits of Thomas Pynchon's GRAVITY'S
RAINBOW.
