Mystery Solved

It was modern journalism's greatest unsolved mystery: Who is "Deep Throat"? It's a mystery no longer. W. Mark Felt, the FBI's No. 2 man during the 1970s, has been confirmed as Bob Woodward's elusive source in the The Washington Post's Watergate investigation that toppled Richard Nixon's presidency. Former Post editor Ben Bradlee confirmed the accuracy of an article due to appear in the July issue of Vanity Fair magazine, which names Felt as "Deep Throat." Felt, now 91, became enraged at the tactics of the Nixon White House and carefully guided Woodward and fellow reporter Carl Bernstein through their labyrinthal investigation without ever revealing his identity.
