Clash of Gizmos

Katherine Albrecht of CASPIAN was

kind enough to stop by in Pasadena and criticize

the presentations of my students in my Art Center

RFID class.

Spychips dot-com: practically everything that nobody wants you to know, or even imagine, about arphids

When you're Katherine Albrecht, noted privacy

advocate and futurist muckraker, odd things happen. For instance:

how come these TWO copies of USA TODAY

have TWO DIFFERENT headlines about 'privacy' –

printed on THE VERY SAME DAY!? Everything

else on the front page is identical!

Could there be a DEEPER MEANING in this sudden

APPARENT WHITEWASHING of a hot-button

public issue? Is Big Brother NERVOUS about

wholesale spying on American air travellers (especially

when you, Katherine Albrecht, have personally

bought these two newspapers WHILE TRAVELLING

IN AMERICAN AIRPORTS)?!

That's stark documentary evidence!

Deny that if you will!

I wouldn't call Ms Albrecht "formidable,' but if

Katherine Albrecht says 'I'm Not Going to Lay

Down My Sword,' you can pretty well take that

pledge to the bank.

There are those stung by Ms Albrecht's critiques

who dare to allege that she 'doesn't understand RFID

technology.' Look, an arphid is ten cents' worth

of antenna, a diode, a chip, and a capacitor. Does

this look hard to figure out? Ha!

The fun's only starting in the topsy-turvy world

of the arphid dissident.
