In Barcelona

*By all reports, Gaudi is dead, but you wouldn't

guess it by the orgy of construction machinery that

surrounds his Sagrada cathedral.

*I'm kinda surprised the locals haven't simply lifted the

cathedral bodily and supported it on a framework

of iron, the way they did with that bullfighting arena.

By the way, I have now learned that that arena

has been gutted and suspended by no less a High-Tech Modern

authority than Richard Rogers. Man, that guy

sure digs girders.

*A cathedral one always has with one, but it's

kind of a privilege to see a European cathedral with that

much dazzling, top-end, wholly contemporary,

European construction hardware all over it.
