I just got my hands on my new book Cult of iPod, and I'm totally freaking out. It's fantastic. It's beautiful. It's absolutely, stunningly gorgeous.
I had nothing to do with this, of course. I just wrote the words. The layout and design was done by Derek Yee of Octopod Studios. Derek was responsible for the design of Cult of Mac, which was also delightful, but he's outdone himself on this one.
The book is a paperback, full-color throughout, and every page is covered in eye-popping graphics and pictures. There's tons of great details, like the shiny silver back cover (just like the iPod) and a battery indicator on every page that slowly discharges as you proceed through the book.
So it's hats off to Derek, who's a genius. I'm really excited. It's a very nice book, and I'm really dead proud of it.
Oh yeah, here's a kinda preview I wrote for Playlist which covers the iPod phenomenon and emerging iPod culture, which, incidentally, is the kind of stuff covered in the book.
The Cult of iPod will be in stores mid-November.
