Time to stop feeling especially bad about the Video Games Live concert tour. Because in its stead comes news that a company that actually seems to know what it is doing will be picking up the ball and running hard.

Jason Michael Paul Productions, the production company that worked with Square Enix to put together the national tour of the Final Fantasy orchestral concert "Dear Friends", has announced that PLAY!, a concert with music from Final Fantasy and a variety of video games, will begin a nationwide tour next year.

Now, the official website lists games like Battlefield 1942 and Morrowind, and I dare anybody to actually hum a piece from either of those games. Yawn.

But here's what I'm actually really really excited about: Yasunori Mitsuda -- only one of the most accomplished game music composers to ever live -- is preparing an arrangement for the tour, says the interview with Jason at 1up today.

Could it be Chrono Trigger? Xenogears? Chrono Cross? I'd be happy with anything, and quite frankly I hope the crowd spontaneously combusts when it happens and convinces JMP Productions to get this brilliant, brilliant man his own solo concert tour.

Rant over.
