This is a new one to me: deer antlers contain stem cells. It seems so obvious now. Reindeer antlers fall off and grow back in record time -- four months. Makes sense they would need stem cells to do that. It turns out they are the only mammals that regrow a complete body parts. (See our story here about mice who are gaining on them) A BBC story says scientists at the Royal Veterinary College discovered the antler stem cells, and outlined details "in an edition of the BBC TV programme Super Vets, which was screened on 12 January." But don't worry, Hwang episode notwithstanding, scientists aren't giving up on peer review already. Price and her colleagues published a paper in November last year.
