The Nihon Keizai Shimbun is reporting (registration req'd) that the PlayStation 3's Japanese launch has been delayed mightily: from its "Spring 2006" date to something more like "November."
Tomorrow in Tokyo, Sony will hold a major PS3-related conference for game publishers and retailers.
The delay is attributed to the Blu-Ray drive technology not being finalized.
(Kutaragi: "This isn't a delay. Even in November, it's spring SOMEWHERE. Like Chile, where I'm going to be hiding from shareholders for the next few months. Laterz!")
So the big question: what does this mean for the US launch? It may very well mean "2007", considering that Sony's *never* had a worldwide launch of a PlayStation machine -- even with the PSP, there was a three-month gap between the Japan release and US release.
