EGM: Final Fantasy XIII at E3

File this one in the "rumors" column, because, uh, that's where Electronic Gaming Monthly put it in the first place. But the venerable mag is saying that Final Fantasy XIII -- that's 13, as in the one after 12, which isn't coming out until Christmas -- will be shown off at E3 in May. For the PS3.

Square Enix responded to the piece today, to say this:

"The recent online article stating that the title will be exclusive for PlayStation 3 and shown at E3 is not based on any official information obtained by us. I hope readers will remember April Fool's day is tomorrow and many Print and Online outlets pull pranks ever year, before they get their hopes crushed by a joke."

1up responded to the effect that they weren't kidding.

You know what would be funny? If Square Enix pulled the FFXIII teaser from the E3 press conference. As a late April Fools' joke on EGM.
