As if scooters weren't already about as fuel efficient as anything else on the road, Vespa has begun testing hybrid scooters on the streets of Milan. The Vespa LX 50 HyS features a gas/electric motor that's 25% more powerful than the conventional all-gas version and gives you 20% more fuel economy. There's also a hybrid version of the more powerful Piaggio X8. The new scooters can be plugged into any 220-volt power outlet in Europe for a recharge. We can only hope to see these in the United States sometime soon.
