Xbox 360 Production Ramps Up

GameDaily continues to provide me with blog fodder this auspicious morning, this time from their business news portal. Looks like Microsoft and its manufacturing partners are making bold strides towards the production of enough Xbox 360s to fill demand:

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Taiwan-based Wistron (one of three Xbox 360 manufacturing partners) is expanding its production capacity for the 360 as well as other electronics items such as laptops, servers, PDAs, handheld devices and GPS systems.

"We are now expanding the manufacturing base for the Xbox," Wistron Chairman Simon Lin told the Journal. He explained that Wistron hopes to reach a capacity of one million units per month by the end of the year "to fully support our customer," Microsoft.

Whatever it is they do, this really needs to happen fast. The fact is, there just aren't enough 360s out there, and until you can walk into a store and pay the actual retail price for a unit, the manufacturing process isn't working.
