You ever notice that, when somebody gets pulled over in
traffic by a cop these days, the cop spends like eight minutes
looking him up behind his cop dashboard before the cop
gets out of the car?
It's absurd that these license-scanning gizmos cost
twenty grand. There must be guys with wifi and old webcams
who could hack one of these for twenty bucks.
Then you could just set up a home-snooping licence-plate
wikipedia and have your phone ring whenever a celebrity
drives by your house.
Stuff like this defines the term "mission creep." And license
plates aren't arphids. They're old. Really old.
