This year's WWDC Steveish-note was supposed to provide a limited preview of Leopard, leaving out some key features Microsoft wasn't supposed to know about. So Steve and his army of lieutenants only demoed 10 core areas.
Then at the end, Jobs let slip a few other features that seemed hugely out of place. Starting at about 1:22:00, Jobs recaps the 10 features coming to Leopard.
Or rather, he meant to. For reference, here are the ten technologies Steve and cohorts actually introduced:
1. Full 64-bit support
2. Time Machine
3. The Complete Package
4. Spaces
5. Spotlight
6. Core Animation
7. Expanded Universal Access
8. Mail
9. Dashboard
10. iChat
So that's the 10. Here's what Steve actually walked the crowd through to recap, with bold numbers counting technologies:
What's that, Steve? Thirteen new features, three of them not touched upon during the keynote speech when you stated at the outset that you were holding a bunch of features secret? And of the 10 previously reviewed, almost none are in the correct order?
Interesting, very interesting. My best guess is that the order of the features (as well as which ones made the cut) were made at the last minute. You can tell he knows it's the wrong set when Core Animation pops up instead of Time Machine. It's totally un-Steve like to recap with new elements and out of order. And you just know Parental Controls were supposed to be a secret.
