Ishiguro and Geminoid:

Ishiguro unveils his android clone Thursday at the ATR IntelligentRobotics and Communication Laboratories in Keihanna Science City, Japan, where he works as a researcher. Ishiguro designed Geminoid so he could"robot in" to classes at Osaka University.

Ishiguro's android mimics the roboticist's actions, with micromovements – such as shoulders that rise gently to simulatebreathing – making it difficult to believe Geminoid is a machine.

Lip Service:

A Geminoid operator wears motion-tracking lip markers. When theoperator moves his mouth, Geminoid's lips make the same movement. Aspeaker inside the android lets the robotic double be heard.
