A survey of 4,193 men living in New York City found that nearly 10 percent called themselves straight, but reported having sex with a man at least once in the previous year. Seventy percent were married.

The lead author of the study, Preeti Pathela, pointed out that this is pretty worrisome for the wives of these men:

"Public health prevention messages should target risky sexual activities, such as unprotected receptive anal sex, and should not be framed to appeal solely to gay-identified men."

The study appears in the September 19 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine, and was performed by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
