GameDaily's editor James Brightman discusses why he doesn't believe the PlayStation 3 will "lose the console war." Mostly it comes down to the fact that Microsoft hasn't made the big strides they really needed to what with their year-long jump on Sony:
All true. And I think -- purely based on the fact that 360 is tanking in Japan, as Brightman goes on to mention -- that Sony will likely end up selling more PS3s than Microsoft sells 360s. But to try and cast this likely outcome as a reason why Sony doesn't need to worry about anything is disingenuous.
Whether or not Sony "wins the console war" isn't really the issue here -- it's the erosion of their dominant industry position and all the implications of that. It's not as if all this becomes moot the second they take 51% of the market.
