iTunes 7 Earns Apple a CNet “Worst” Award

CNet's roundup article "10 Worst Tech of Q3 2006" gives a nice Bronx cheer to Apple iTunes 7, calling it the worst upgrade of the quarter.

Here's the critique:

[iTunes 7] boasted features such as resource hogging, freezing, deleting song files, album art issues, CD-importing woes, iPod syncing foibles, and innovative new features stolen directly from Windows Media Player 11.

As we repeatedly reported right here on the Monkey Bites blog, these problems were largely – but not exclusively – limited to Windows versions of the software media player. Windows users had to wait weeks for an upgrade before they could start using their iPods again. That just plain stank.
