
Panasonic's updated semi-rugged laptop can take a fall, doesn't need a case, and has broadband access in more than 100 countries worldwide.
Slightly less ugly than its fully-rugged, cologne-reeking counterparts in the Toughbook line, the CF-74 now comes with built-in support for the Cingular's high-speed 3G BroadbandConnect Service here in the states, and plays internationally with access to EDGE and GPRS networks.
What does it mean for you? It's easy to dismiss these notebooks as nichey, boring and too displeasing to the eye to be worth considering. With improved networking, however, we're approaching a certain combination of longevity, sturdiness, and functionality that's hard to ignore for those of us who get excited when reading the phrase, "mobile road warrior."
Just don't think about the price.
