Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gave some hints on plans for the Zune media player, saying future models would allow users to share homemade videos and that he expects hybrid Zune/phone devices to emerge soon.
Ballmer didn’t reveal a date for the new features but said Apple will have to hustle to retain its lead in the media player market. “The race is on,” he told a Bloomberg reporter. “I'm confident we can keep up. They have brand and image going for them, and we have some innovative ideas.”
