Bloomberg reports that Disney -- whose video games arm was recently rebranded Buena Vista Games -- will be establishing a new studio dedicated exclusively to producing games for Nintendo consoles:
BVI, of course, has already made some major investments into Nintendo's portable platform, with an entirely new IP (action-RPG Spectrobes) and a Disney-themed followup to popular puzzler Meteos in the works.
The fact that they're establishing a brand new studio would seem to indicate that original content developed ground-up for Wii and DS is on the way, not just ports of existing products. Makes a lot of sense, seeing as how the Disney and Nintendo audiences overlap. Much as I love the DS' market-expanding features, it's ultimately going to be the system of choice for the little kids, much like the GBA before it.
