EB GameStop took the lid off their $700 Wii bundle offer today, and hooo boy is it a bad deal. Here's what's in there:
- Nintendo Wii Console (includes 1 remote controller, 1 nunchuck, cables, sensor bar, console stand, and Wii Sports game) ($250)
- Wii Memory SD 1GB ($?)
- Additional Wii Remote Controller ($40)
- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess ($50)
- Trauma Center: Second Opinion ($50)
- Red Steel ($50)
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance ($50)
- Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz ($50)
- Madden NFL 2007 ($50)
- 12 Month Product Replacement Plan ($worthless)
- Game Informer Gift Subscription ($free)
Ugh. Six games of their choice? Come on, guys, at least let people pick which games they want. I doubt the Trauma Center and Madden audiences intersect much, if at all. But that's not the worst part. The Wii, remote, and games add up to $590. That means you're getting charged $100 for a one-gig SD card, a 12-month warranty, and a magazine subscription.
Now, the 12-month warranty is redundant because Nintendo warranties all of their products for a year already, and pays for overnight FedEx both ways. And I won't even pretend that sending out Game Informer magazines counts in the loss column for EB.
So really you're being forced to pay $100 for an SD card that costs $12.75 on Amazon.
