LG Electronics announced the launch of the LG-U900, the world's first commercially available UMTS (WCDMA) DVB-H phone. The handset will be available in Italy in May through Hutchinson Network, which has exclusive DVB-H broadcasting rights for the 2006 World Cup; owners of the handset will have access to World Cup broadcasts thru Hutchison's service channels starting June 6. The phone features an ample 2.2-inch "wide-swing" screen, a 1.3 megapixel and VGA camera, and a 58MB memory. Once the phone catches on in Italy, LG plans a worldwide release.

With membership costing $400 per month after a whopping $1,000 sign-up fee, Voce offers a few unique handsets (like the leather-wrapped Moto Razr pictured here), annual device upgrades, unlimited domestic calling, a concierge service that will send someone to your office if you have trouble with your phone, and a travel service. The company, which operates on Cingular's network, operates in Los Angeles, with New York and San Francisco supposed to launch by the end of the year and nationwide service planned for 2007.

The 2820 also plays MP3s and XM Satellite Radio channels, receives traffic data from XM NavTraffic and FM TMC traffic alerting, and supports Bluetooth for hands-free calling and navigation audio prompts. It's also waterproof, which makes it great for use on motorcycles. Look for it in June at a price of $1,185.
