Turns out there is plenty of room for companies other than Apple to share in the iPod economy.
Take Swiss hearing aid maker Phonak, which Wednesday included MP3-player induced hearing loss as a major driver of the 10 percent annual sales growth it expects for the near future.
"Due to the noise exposure, especially among the young, we are witnessing the creation of a hearing loss bubble in years to come," CEO
Valentin Chapero told investors.
Numerous recent health studies have implicated excessively long and loud use of audio players as a significant risk to hearing.
