Genji

I joke a lot about giant enemy crabs and all that, but I'm looking forward to Genji: Days of the Blade the most out of all the PlayStation 3 games. I mean, cinematic adventure games are my thing, man. Tiger Woods and Resistance got nothin' on crazy Japanese dudes and their crazier weapons, far as I'm concerned.

That's why I'm sad to learn that IGN reviewed Genji today (the first PS3 review ever, I would think) and gave it a measly 6.0, which on the IGN scale is about as low as they go. I really love Juan Castro's opening paragraph, though:

Next-generation consoles exist to deliver game experiences the previous generation could never deliver. That's their sole purpose in this life.
So when a game comes along offering a strange mix of cutting-edge visuals but also tired gameplay, one can't help but feel a little cheated.

Preach it! What a way to start off the first PS3 review on the Interweb! Is this going to be the standard from now on? Next-gen games with old-gen gameplay get demerits? I certainly hope so. Pity about Genji, although we all know the world's true test of a game's greatness is when the buying public I get my hands on it.
