Even walking sticks are getting in on artificial intelligence. The Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Development's i-Stick summons help if it lies too long in a horizontal position, indicating that its owner might be in a similar predicament.
On toppling, it first asks to be righted--"Just what do you think you're doing, Dave? Put me in the cane rack, Dave."--and calls either 911 or a chosen relative if its appeals remain unanswered.
There's no actual product, yet (pictured is a standard, albeit appropriately-topped, walking stick), but the German gents from Kaiserslautern are looking for a distributor.
