Kidney Broker Murdered

Selling kidneys on the black market has always brought on a fair bit of danger for the patient, but a
recent murder that has been splashed all over the local papers in Chennai, India suggests that even the kidney brokers have something to fear.

Krishnamurthy agreed to sell a one of his kidneys to a broker named Murugan for $160 in order to buy a new scooter after his old scooter was stolen.

During the night when Murugan was in deepsleep, Krishnamurthy smashed his head using a stone. He died on thespot. When the police arrived Murugan was lying in a pool of blood . . .Krishnamurthy says that he panicked during thenight over the prospect of removing his kidney. So he decided to killMurugan, It seems both were drunk, the police said. The police arehowever not convinced with his explanation, reasoning that he couldhave disappeared if he did not want to donate his kidney

The police are not sure whether or not Murugan was acting alone or was part of a larger organ smuggling racket.
