A garage/blues band called Bones had maintained and promoted a MySpace presence at myspace.com/bones, but the Fox-owned MySpace unceremoniously booted them to make space for the Fox network's Bones show, according to a press release issued by the band.
They claimed MySpace forced them to take myspace.com/7483383 instead, forfeiting two years of promotional efforts. As of now, both URLs go the Bones the band rather than Bones the TV show, so MySpace has apparently fixed the problem. (Still, one has to wonder whether MySpace would have responded in this way had the band not sent out a press release.)
According to Michael Miller of the band,
I hope this isn't a publicity stunt (the band has a new album out), but it's a chilling scenario.
