In case you guys don't know, Nintendo is going after the casual non-gamer crowd with Wii. Did you hear about that? In case you didn't, they're reinforcing this message with their first-quarter game release lineup, which they announced in secret today on the eve of Wii's launch. The full list:

  • 01/15/07 WarioWare: Smooth Moves (Wii, pictured)
  • 01/15/07 Wii Play (Wii)
  • 01/22/07 Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (DS)
  • 02/05/07 Diddy Kong Racing DS (DS)
  • 02/05/07 FINAL FANTASY VI ADVANCE (GBA)
  • 03/05/07 Mario Party 8 (Wii)
  • 03/05/07 Wario: Master of Disguise (DS)
  • 03/19/07 Custom Robo Arena (DS)

As you can see, it's casual fun times ahoy for Wii in Q1 -- no Metroid, no Mario, just lots of mini-game madness. Deal with it! But to balance it out, there's plenty of deep hardcore experiences planned for DS and GBA -- from Final Fantasy VI (oh boy!) to Wario to the maybe-it's-actually-good Hotel Dusk (a Phoenix Wright styled graphic novel adventure thing).

Oh, and you might want to get Wii Play even if you're not into simple entertainment -- in Japan and the UK, it came packed with a second Wiimote. If it's the same scenario here, it'll be like getting the game for ten bucks.
