Ren and Stimpy was a cartoon of resplendent genius... or at least it was before John Kricafalusi was propelled from his own creation by a rocket-powered boot hobnailed by Nickelodeon execs. Part of what made it so brilliant — besides the interspecies homoeroticism, besides the genius notion of teaming Peter Lorre up with Larry Howard, besides Kricafalusi's deformed drawing style and fascination with the buttocks — was the soundtrack, pieced together mostly from the KPM public domain music library of the 1950's.
Kirk over at the Secret Fun Blog loved the Ren and Stimpy soundtrack so much that he actually pieced it all together and put it up for download. It's all public domain, so no laws are being broken. Why should you download a bunch of public domain music? Well, as Kirk says:
Kirk even designed an excellent album cover, tracked down and tagged all the artists and created a track listing based on musical genres. I'm bopping along to it right now.
