Three-Dimensional Book Sculptures by Su Blackwell

Su Blackwell makes amazing book sculptures, made by cutting three dimensional pop-up sculptures out of the pages of books. This one, obviously, is for Alice in Wonderland:

Alice looks on at the scene of the Tea Party, the Hatter and the Door mouse trapped inside the pages of the book, leaving the table and chairs seem ominously/eerily empty.

About her work, Su says:

I find the materialization of the flat piece of paper an almost magical process.

As I become more involved in the making, I feel like I am creating small stage sets, inhabited by characters caught up in their own magical, whimsical and sometimes haunting journeys

The book-cut sculptures are displayed in glass cases, like relics found in a Victorian museum.
