Shall we crack yet another joke at Alaska senator Ted Stevens? This is the chap who infamously described the Internet as a "series of tubes," presumably after a failed attempt by his pursemasters to prepare him for a debate on Net Neutrality.
No. Instead, we'll point out that he ranked higher on C|Net's list of tech-savvy politicos than fellow Senate republicans Mike DeWine (R-OH) and Dick Shelby (R-AL). Scary, huh?
Winners in the revue include libertarian Republican Rep. Ron Paul, whose region on the Gulf Coast sees web-based startups and cattle ranchers rubbing shoulders. His score of 80 percent bested the Bay-area democrats one might have expected to win.
UPDATE: Commenter John, detecting sneaky liberal bias in my post, points out that the most supremely tech-dumb senator is Hawaii Democrat Daniel Akaka, whose 14% approval rate of tech-friendly legislation suggests a single-minded luddite paranoia far removed from the Republicans mentioned, none of whom scored less than 25%. Furthermore, high-flying Senate Republican George Allen (R-VA)'s 78% trounces the Dem's senatorial best Maria Cantwell (D-WA), at 67%.
