The diligent Mike Antonucci over at the San Jose Mercury News has the updated Wii day-one list. As expected, when hardware makers promise a certain number of games at "launch," they don't actually mean "when it comes out." The first day of Wii should bring 19 disc games and 12 Virtual Console downloads.
- Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo)
- Excite Truck (Nintendo)
- Call of Duty 3 (Activision)
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance (Activision)
- Tony Hawk Downhill Jam (Activision)
- Trauma Center Second Opinion (Atlus)
- Madden NFL 07 (Electronic Arts)
- Need for Speed Carbon (Electronic Arts)
- Happy Feet (Midway)
- Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (Midway)
- Rampage Total Destruction (Midway)
- Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz (Sega)
- SpongeBob SquarePants (THQ)
- Avatar: The Last Airbender (THQ)
- Cars (THQ)
- GT Pro Series (Ubisoft)
- Monster 4X4 World Circuit (Ubisoft)
- Rayman Raving Rabbids (Ubisoft)
- Red Steel (Ubisoft)
Everything else, including stuff like Splinter Cell and Elebits, will show up later in the year. As for Virtual Console, Nintendo's sneaky bad-news-filled press release from this morning says that only 12 games will be ready for launch. They only list five of them -- Donkey Kong, Sim City, Super Mario 64, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Bomberman '93. Sigh.
