Popular Science has given Wii the grand prize in the "Best of What's New 2006" section of the venerated mag. You can probably guess the sort of stuff they said, but here's a clever snippet:

Nintendo’s processor is 75 percent slower than an Xbox
360’s. The company decided that gamers didn’t need to pay extra for photo-realistic renderings of its iconic talking mushrooms. Instead it reimagined the controller, introducing a three-axis accelerometer that transforms your hand motions into in-game action, so you really play the games.

Okay, I mean, I really played the PS3 today, so maybe that's not the best construction. Still, another PR win for Nintendo. Oh, and it seems as if DS Lite will win Time's Gadget of the Year award, although that's a bit less of a big deal considering it's being voted on by the Internet, which as we all know consists entirely of gamers.
