The first version of the Microsoft operating system went on sale 21 years ago today. The first bug-fix update was released two weeks later. And Bill
Gates had to be talked out of calling it “Interface Manager.”
This means the forthcoming Vista will be the first truly adult Microsoft operating system, hopefully bringing an end to that sulky, unpredictable teenage phase.
